Terrace-style hotel Villa Bellavista lies, surrounded by lemon and olive trees, directly on the steep coast of a coastal bay, in one of the car free stepped alleys somewhat below Piazza S. Gennaro in Praiano.
Embedded between Positano and Amalfi right in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, the former fishing village has, for the most part, still been spared the onrush of day trippers. The name of the hotel “Bella Vista” – i.e. “beautiful view” – keeps what it promises. Not only romantics go into rhapsodies about the amazing scenery.
The 20 sunny rooms with sea view at Hotel Villa Bellavista are designed and held in different colors.
The well-tended 3-bed room we have chosen for you is furnished with a double bed and a single bed as well as TV, WLAN, air conditioning and fan.
The bathroom is equipped with hair dryer and shower or bathtub/bidet/WC.
Relaxing on your private balcony with a view of the Amalfi Coast, Capri and the archipelago of "Li Galli", you experience marvelous sunsets.
Not even when dining do you have to do without this panorama. In good weather you can enjoy your meals out in the open on the sea-view terrace.
There is a saying which goes like "You eat with your eyes too" or "Eating is a visual pleasure, too." Meals are served and presented in a tasteful way and backed up by a terrific setting.
The sun terrace is found on the top floor: enjoy the sun while relaxing on the sun beds or take it easy in the shade of the parasol.
Should you want to learn Italian or improve your knowledge of the language during your holidays, you might consider taking lessons in Italian with Signora Adele, the owner of the hotel (€ 25/hour).
A ca. 5-minute walk along a foot path (with steps) takes you to the bathing area at the sea near the Saracen tower. Do not be surprised at the sight of heavily loaded mules along the way. As there are ways where neither cars nor motorcycles can go, people resort to what has been tried and tested and rely on the help of these animals.
At the foot of the steep coast crystal-clear water awaits you. The hotel has got a private boat, which takes you to “Grotta dello Smeraldo” or even to Capri. Those who prefer to spend a day at the beach can rent sun beds and parasols. Cool, refreshing drinks are available at the bar.
Further bathing bays not too far off are „Marina di Praia“ (1 km) and „La Cala della Gavitella“, the latter the only beach on the Amalfi Coast caressed by the sun until sunset.
From Praiano you can start on various interesting excursions. Those who wish to avoid driving along the winding coastal road, get along quite well by using the public means of transportation, the SITA buses or the Metro del Mare (during the summer months). >> Further information and timetables
Amalfi (9 km) is probably the best-known town on the coast of the same name. Little is known about the origins of Amalfi, yet one believes that the place was founded by the Romans in the 4th century AD. In the 9th century, Amalfi became one of the leading towns in Italy and the first of the four maritime republics.
The glamour of Amalfi has not faded, is still present today and attracts many tourists. It is not only its typical architecture, but also its enchanting location which makes Amalfi so fascinating.
Positano, 6 km to the west of Praiano, was "discovered" by artists in the 20ies of the 19th century and has remained a popular destination of stars and starlets.
Positano is the trail end of the coast’s most famous hiking trail, the so-called ”Sentiero degli Dei”. The coastal town is also a good starting point for further hiking tours.
Those who wish to discover the Amalfi Coast on hiking tours, but not on their own, might consider taking part in the hiking week offered by Hotel Villa Bellavista. Your local guide takes you on discovery tours of fascinating routes on the Amalfi Coast. Of course, the 7-day group tour includes culture, too.
From Positano as well as from Amalfi there are ferry connections to Capri and Salerno.
