Modern living in historic atmosphere

It is with typically Italian finesse that owner Mauro, an engineer, has turned the oil mill, which was built around 1850 and is located on the green slopes above Erchie, a small neighboring town of Cetara, into an idyllic and, at the same time, very original holiday retreat.

The former significance of the building is plainly revealed in the current living-dining room by the old, vertically laid out millstone, which attracts our attention as soon as we enter the house and which we cannot but comment on with a delighted „Che bello!“.

Even though Mauro has furnished his mill with the conveniences of the new millennium, he has managed to preserve the special character of the place in large as well as small details.

The terrace, which covers two levels and opens upon a gorgeous far-reaching view of the Gulf of Salerno, holds an irresistible charm, too.

Although located apart in the midst of deep green olive trees, the accommodation is not far from the sea and the lively coastal towns. The sea is only 150 m off. Shopping facilities and restaurants are found at Erchie, 600 m off, or at Cetara, ca. 2 km off.

The holiday home - unique design and atmosphere

Unobtrusive Arte Povera style characterizes the furnishing of the two rooms, in which the contrast between rustic stone walls and white, elegant arched ceilings makes for a special atmosphere.

The kitchenette with electric stove, microwave and refrigerator with freezer compartment is found in the entrance area of the house.

The adjoining, open-plan living area includes a cozy corner sofa bed as well as TV, DVD player, radio, Wi-Fi and air conditioning. If you want to turn your back on the world of multimedia for a while, then turn to look out the south-facing window and onto the blue, sparkling sea.

An arched doorway lets you into the bedroom with double bed, sea view window and access of the bathroom. The latter, too, mirrors the charm of the old building – rustic style combined with Italian „eleganza“. There is an antique-style stone washbasin next to a modern glass shower enclosure, besides WC and bidet.

Vacationing in a restored oil mill

A real oil mill does of course need an olive grove. La Cupola is located on a ca. 8000 m² property. You can overlook part of it from the sea view terrace in front of the house, which the owner calls „un posto di pace e bellezza“ – a place of peace and beauty.

Whether you are relaxing in the sun or dining at sunset, you always feel and see the charms of the Amalfi Coast.

Sunbeds, a large sun shade, a table and chairs are at your disposal. Besides, you can give your culinary skills a try at the grill.

Modern furnishing and prime location

Your holiday home includes, amongst others, air conditioning, wood-fired stove, grill as well as TV, DVD player, radio and Wi-Fi.

There is a reserved and enclosed parking space for your car by the side of the road. From there, it is about 100 m to La Cupola along a gently rising footpath, which is illuminated in the evening.

The beach of Erchie is only about 150 m off. Restaurant "Il Giglio blu" is located about 50 m below La Cupola.

The fishing village of Erchie is 600 m off. Bars, restaurants and grocery stores are found there as well as at Cetara ca. 2 km off.

It is only a few minutes by car to Vietri sul Mare. The small town with the majolica cupola of S. Giovanni Battista visible from afar is famous for its centuries old craft and art of tile painting.
