A paradise!

For several years now Conca dei Marini has been considered a hot tip - idyllic and peaceful, somewhat off the tourists’ tracks along the coast, simply charming.

It was the irresistible charm of the „Conchesi“, the inhabitants of Conca, which Sergio, owner of Casa del Cavallo, could not resist either. Within two years, he created this idyllic, charming and unique refuge you can imagine only here and nowhere else.

In this place at the Amalfitana, a narrow ridge juts far out into the sea. Winding roads hug the rocky, steep coast. A few more turns and there we are – in Sergio’s paradise, which has become even more enchanting since a small pool (4m x 2m) with a view of Capri was added in 2020.

Lodging with style

We pass through an old wooden door onto the property, which is named for a gorgeous, black horse which used to graze below the house. Fascinated by its beauty and elegance, the owner decided to call the villa Casa del Cavallo (House of the Horse).

We see a long terrace surrounded by lush green, Mediterranean flora and focusing on one view: that of the sparkling blue sea. Appealing white chairs are arranged around a solid wooden table. We are fascinated by the amosphere of dolce vita and joy of life in this place.

Sergio, who by profession designs fashion not construction plans, has lived out his enormous creative power inside the house, too. By putting a lot of work and passion, his heart and soul into restoring the 3 floors of the run-down, former farmhouse he has succeeded in creating a unique and appealing atmosphere which clearly bears his signature of style.

Ground floor:

Upon entering, we find ourselves in the long living room with cozy seating areas, TV and appealing, antique furniture. A small bathroom with shower/WC/bidet lies hidden behind a recess with sofa.

A few steps up, through an arched doorway and we are in the dining area, which opens onto the terrace. A long, heavy wooden table is positioned in the center of the room. The antique tiles adorning the fireplace were taken from local Monastero Santa Rosa after it was abandoned many years ago and then redesigned for touristic purposes.

Passing through another arched doorway we enter the kitchen with fridge-freezer, gas stove with oven, dish washer. The shelves are stacked with Vietri ceramics.

1st floor:

We climb a red staircase to the 1st floor. We get to see two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with twin beds, both with an adorable view of the sea, and an elegant bathroom with bathtub/WC/bidet.

2nd floor:

On our way up, we walk towards an enormous bookcase. We have arrived in Sergio’s studio. From the high cupola ceiling our gaze wanders out through the large windows onto the seemingly unlimited sea.

From the studio we step out onto the roof terrace with antique 18th century maiolica floor tiles manufactured at Giustiniani ceramics and once covering the floor of an old church at Amalfi. While our eyes follow the graceful coastal formation, the day slowly draws to a close.

Our tour of the house too comes to an end in the third bedroom. Its French window opens upon a terrific view of the sea. A narrow bathroom with shower is found behind the double bed. The wooden door at the far end of the room opens onto the outdoor area. It is a relic from times gone by, when a horse was kept in this room.

Furnishing of Casa del Cavallo includes washing machine, gas heating, fireplace (dining room), air conditioning, children’s bed, grill and WiFi.

Parking might be available in front of the house, which is located at the end of a cul-de-sac (serpentine road), can however not be guaranteed, as this is not part of the property. A roofed parking space at the beginning of the access road, ca. 300 m from the house, can be reserved for a fee.

A pool facing the Isle of Capri

With time to spare during a lockdwon, what do you do? In 2020, the owner of Casa del Cavallo realized a beautiful add-on on the spacious terraced premises stretching out below the house - the small, 4m x 2m pool with a view across the deep blue sea as far as Capri, the isle of longing.

A vegetable garden was also laid out on the redesigned premises. From what is growing there, guests staying at Casa del Cavallo may and should pick anything their hearts and stomachs desire.

Futher information

Grocery stores, bars and restaurants are ca. 700 m from Casa del Cavallo and a bus stop is about 500 m off. From Conca dei Marini SITA busses head for the towns of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Sorrento. The nearest beach is about 1.5 km off.

From Monday to Saturday, the Lemon Tour at restaurant Le Bontà del Capo, which is only a short walk from the holiday home, provides culinary insight into your holiday region. In pairs or small groups you first harvest lemons and produce your own limoncello. Then Fiorenzo Oliveto, who offers the tour, serves a delicious three-course menu based on lemons.

The nearest train station is at Sorrento (ca. 29 km).

Man konnte also problemlos Urlaub machen.
