La Veranda is an accommodation at the idyllic piazza of the small village of Albori, which has been officially nominated one of the most beautiful villages of Italy (I Borghi più belli d’Italia). Albori has succeeded in preserving its traditional and historic townscape and in the car-free „centro storico“ with its winding terraced alleys, you experience Italian village life first hand.
The holiday apartment is located in the heart of the village, on the 1st floor of the 18 th century palazzo, faces the church of Santa Margherita and overlooks the lively center of the village and what is going on in the piazza. The traditional, seasonal festivities also take place in this charming square: ranging from the
‘Presepe Vivente’ (traditional Christmas festivity turning the entire village into a nativity scene) to the processions in honor of the Santa Patrona (24th July).
The apartment’s privileged position with its marvelous view of the Gulf of Salerno give rise to the feeling of experiencing an Italy long gone, the Italy of the fifties and sixties with its cinematographic black and white imagery.
Summer evenings are 'adorned' with the melodies of the voices of inhabitants enjoying the fresh evening air after the day’s heat. You experience an Italy which has survived and survives only in a few, distinct places and of whichAlbori is a prime example.
The very hospitable and active community is a rare gem of social cohesion, resisting the suffocating and frenzied rhythm of modern life, holding on to valuable habits and keeping up traditional customs.
La Veranda manages to maintain the historical charm of the village surrounding it without lacking in modern comforts such as central heating and free wifi.
The apartment has been renovated without, however, changing the original style of the rooms. The antique floors are adorned with Neapolitan stoneware and with the Vietri tiles so typical for the Amalfi Coast. The furnishing displays a love for detail and the owners’ talent for creating an atmosphere of ease.
The beautiful veranda adjacent to the stairway marks the entrance to your apartment and is a simply magic spot between sky and sea. It is an ideal place for relaxing and reading a good book with the turquoise sea in view or savoring your morning cappuccino with a view of the sea or enjoying a romantic dinner with a view of Southern Italy’s starry sky. The veranda’s glass doors can be opened.
Not only the panoramic views but also the gorgeous, colorful ceramic tiles and ceilings up to 4.5 meters in height make for the special charm of holiday apartment La Veranda, which accommodates up to four persons.
From the eat-in kitchen a wooden staircase runs up to a sleeping gallery with double bed. When you awake in the morning, the sun and the sea bid you hello through the large window.
The lovely eat-in kitchen is conveniently equipped and includes gas stove, refrigerator as well as dish washer. You can gather round the dining table to enjoy your home-made meals.
In the adjoining living room of the ca. 50 m² holiday apartment up to six persons can make themselves comfortable on the large sofa. Free WiFi is available during your stay.
The second bedroom, which is accessible from the living room, is a twin and opens onto a French balcony, which stretches up to the veranda. Characteristic pink bougainvilleas and fragrant white jasmines adorn the balcony.
The bathroom of the holiday apartment is furnished with a shower cabin, a toilet, a washbasin and a bidet as well as a washing machine.
One bar, a bruschetteria, is located in the historic center. Restaurants such as the Garden, which we highly recommend, are found down the street, within agreeable walking distance. Grocery stores are found in the neighboring town of Raito, at a distance of ca. 800 m.
The nearest sandy beach can be reached in 15 minutes by walking down a rather steep, stepped path among olive trees, fig trees and the fantastic colors of the Mediterranean bougainvilleas.
There is also a bus that connects Albori with the much larger village of Vietri and the beaches of the Marina. During the summer months, the comune provides a shuttle for lessees of the rental apartments, which takes you to every village in the area until late in the evening.
From Albori, you can easily start on discovery tours of the whole Amalfi Coast and dive into the special atmosphere of this gorgeous and world famous area. Albori, one of the first villages on the coast, is a starting point for trips to jewels of the Amalfi Coast such as Cetara, Amalfi and Ravello. However, it is not far from Paestum (20 km), Pompeii (20 km), Naples (40 km) and from the Penisola Sorrentina, from where you can take a boat to visit Capri, either.
La Veranda is highly suitable for mountain lovers as well, for the paths (and lack of them) offer varying levels of difficulty for mountain excursions. You can explore nearby Sorgente del Cesare in 20 minutes as well as spend hours conquering the steep top of Monte Falerio.
Albori is a car-free village, therefore parking is not available in its historic heart, where La Veranda is located. You can find parking for your car either along the road leading up to the village or in a large parking lot just outside the center.
