A house that has stories to tell ...

Casa Vecchia, a tasteful holiday apartment with beautiful sea view terrace in the terraced alleys of Albori's centro storico, belongs to a well-known Italian family of intellectuals.

"Se voi sapeste quante storie potrebbe raccontare questa casa" – "If you knew how many stories this house could tell" welcomed us the friendly caretaker of Casa Vecchia. We, of course, wanted to hear the stories, even if the typical, up to 3.50 m high cupola ceilings, original flooring and antique furniture as well as quite a number of books tell you more about the history of the house than words ever could.

Mediterranean holidays

At Casa Vecchia you not only dive into a fascinating past. You can spend real "vacanze mediterranee" and enjoy outdoor life to the full there. The terrace running the length of the house is greened with rich potted plants, the deep blue sea lies at your feet.

On the roofed part of the terrace you can gather round the beautiful mosaic table to share your meals. In the rear part of the sea view terrace you can relax on the deck chairs and take a sunbath or enjoy your holiday read.

Casa Vecchia is located on the 1st floor of the 17th century building. Given the hillside location, you have got level access of the apartment.

Tasteful furnishing and large sea view terrace

The tasteful entry area lets you right into the living room. The beautiful flooring dates from the 17th century, the wood stove and fine furnishing make for an elegant and at the same time cozy atmosphere. The French balcony facing the piazzetta and the door onto the terrace add an air of brightness.

Casa Vecchia has two bedrooms. In the reading-and-lounge room between the two bedrooms a sofa bed provides sleeping accommodation for a 5th person. Each of the three rooms offers a view of the sea and access of the terrace.

In the bedroom with double bed the set of book shelves, old family photos and the writing table add a special charm. The bedroom with twin beds, which can be rearranged into a double, includes a small en suite bathroom with shower/WC. The other bathroom is accessible from the hallway and features masonry shower cabin/WC/bidet and washing machine.

The eat-in kitchen is small, but charming with its high cupola ceiling, original 18th century tiles,  showcase and French balcony facing the piazza. It offers what you need to prepare your holiday meals, amongst others, gas stove, oven, fridge-freezer and water boiler.

Casa Vecchia features free WiFi access. Air conditioning in the two bedrooms is available at an extra charge. You cannot drive up to Casa Vecchia. Public parking spaces are found along the road outside the village center. Reserved, lockable parking is available at an extra charge. 

Albori, bars, restaurant and the sea

Albori is one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. In the Campania region, only a limited number of villages are members of the 'club' of the "Borghi più belli d'Italia". At contemplative Albori, you can get to know the original, rural face of the Amalfi Coast.

Hikers can start on tours into the mountains and along the coast right from Casa Vecchia. Amid local everyday life, the observant traveler, by and by, gains some insight into the soul of "Bella Italia". People know and greet each other, they walk through the alleys and archways without hurry. Clotheslines are strung between one's own window and the neighbor’s across the alley, fragrant basil is grown in pots in front of the doors, small statues of the Virgin Mary are lovingly decorated and children are, as a matter of course, picked up from school by the "nonno", the grandfather.

Café-bars, a bruschetteria and the recommendable restaurant of the local Agriturismo are about 100 m from the apartment. Grocery stores are found at neighboring Raito, ca. 800 m off.

It is ca. 3 km to the nearest sandy beach, which you can also walk to along a stepped path. For the way back you might use the well-organized means of public transportation. Please note that the last bus to Albori runs around 8 pm.
