Spectacular hiking destination near Massa Lubrense: Punta Campanella in the south west of the Sorrentine Peninsula.

Charming small town on the Sorrentine Peninsula

Massa Lubrense is located in the most scenic and still mainly rural part of the Sorrentine Peninsula. The nice town comprises amongst others the districts Marina del Cantone and Nerano situated further south.

Although only few kilometres from the lively town of Sorrento, hardly anything here at the southern end of the peninsula reminds you of the hustle and bustle of the neighbouring town.

A wonderful garden of southern fruit adorns the town centre and shows the importance of the lemon crop not only for the town but for the whole Costiera Amalfitana. The aromatic peels of the fruit are nowadays used mainly for the production of Limoncello.

Jeranto Piccola Massa Lubrense
Directly before Punta Campanella you find the splendid bathing bay Jeranto Piccola (picture: "Le 100 spiagge della Costiera Amalfitana" by Roberto Pellecchia, Cart&guide).

From Piazza Vescovado in the heart of the medieval commune, you have got a fantastic view of the Gulf of Naples. The baroque church of Santa Maria delle Grazie with its wonderful majolica floor is also worth seeing.

On your way to the small fishing harbour of Marina della Lobra, which fills with pleasure crafts and yachts in summer, you will pass the church of Santa Maria della Lobra. You should not miss out on visiting the adjacent Franciscan monastery with its beautiful cloister.
