Location and history:

Built in 1870 and the first hotel in the town of Praiano at the Amalfi coast, the building with its view of the medieval Saracen tower used to accommodate princes and kings who gathered here for several weeks per year to go fowling or fishing.

Later on, from 1920 to 1950, the coast was the setting of famous motion pictures. At Praiano, scenes were shot for „L’amore – Il Miracolo“ starring Anna Magnani and „Consuelita“ starring Francesca Bertini. The successful director Roberto Rossellini and his actors put up at this hotel during the shooting.

Now, family Milo, owner of the neighbouring accommodation Locanda Costa Diva, has given new splendour to this hotel rich in history near the Saracen tower.

Rooms:

The altogether 19 rooms are made up of 6 superior and 13 standard rooms.

The spacious superior accommodations are located in the main building, the „casa principale“, and offer air conditioning, mini bar, Sat-TV, telephone and hair dryer. The bathroom is equipped with shower, bidet and WC.

On the large private terrace, your view opens upon the deep blue sea and the Saracen tower and you are coddled by the sun all day long.

Dive into bygone times and feel taken back to the elegant society of those times. The impressive cupola ceilings as well as the original paintings on the walls and the ceilings, depicting hunting and fishing scenes, have been preserved up to this day. 

Recreational activities:  

Torre Saracena has its private access of the sea with a bathing area which is accessible via stairs – ideal for enthusiastic swimmers, but also for those who want to take a short refreshing plunge only.    

After such welcome refreshment, above all on hot days, you can relax and take a sunbath on the loungers provided on the small plateau and on the terraced premises. Those who love adventure and explorers will enjoy the nearby cave, its entrance only a few metres from the hotel’s access to the sea and stretching about 30 metres into the rock’s interior, where you will also find a natural resting place.

The town of Praiano, which has preserved a touch of its authenticity and has remained untouched by mass tourism, offers a variety of possibilities of spending your days at the Amalfi coast not only idling about and sunbathing.

For those who love to hike: From Praiano, there is a well-marked path which meets with one of the most spectacular high-level hiking trails at the Amalfi coast, „Sentiero degli Dei“, the „Path of Gods“.
